Chingy Sued For $250,000
June 9, 2006
A St. Louis man is suing Chingy and his record producers for more than $250,000.
Ronald R. Gavin alleges that the platinum-certified artist broke a record deal with his 49 Productions Inc. in 2002 to jump ship to Ludacris’ Disturbing Tha Peace imprint.
Gavin also claims that the contract gave him exclusive services for the production and recording of Thugzy, which was the MC’s name before turning it to Chingy. In addition, Gavin claims to have spent $100,000 developing Chingy’s professional image for over three years.
Gavin’s lawsuit also alleges that the Trak Starz knew of Chingy’s contract with his 49 Production Inc..
A rep for Capitol Records, the home of Chingy, denied to comment about the lawsuit.
