'Cave In' is an alternative and metalcore band formed in 1995, in Methuen, Massachusetts. The group's early work on Hydra Head Records was considered to be more extreme and chaotic in the style of bands like Converge, but their later output appears to be influenced by a wider range of styles. Their 2003 album release Antenna on RCA Records has had more success than previous albums and coincided with a second stage spot on the 2003 Lollapalooza tour, however, it was not enough success to keep them from being dropped off of the label. Although prior albums had alluded to melodic yearnings within the group, the throat injuries of lead vocalist Stephen Brodsky led to the group's present, more euphonious sound. Much of their recent material can be considered space rock and has to do with space, whether it's song names like Jupiter, album names like Antenna, or the kind of resonating ambient spacey guitar effects they use in their songs. Cave In released a new album titled Perfect Pitch Black on September 13, 2005 on Hydra Head Records featuring some heavy vocals and riffs (committing to their earlier days) along with the well-known space/prog-rock influences in their music. The original lineup consists of: *Stephen Brodsky - Vocalist/Guitarist *Caleb Scofield - Bassist *Adam McGrath - Guitarist *John-Robert Connors - Drummer However, Mr. Connors is no longer a part of the group and has currently been replaced by Ben Koller who will balance drumming duties in Cave In as well as Converge.
