Russell "Block" Spencer, CEO of Block Enterprises, who helped bring Boyz N Da Hood to the mainstream, has recently inked a multi-million dollar deal with Diddy's Bad Boy Entertainment and Warner Music Group (WMG).
"When Block and I first met, I realized he had an ear for the streets of the South," Diddy remembers. "Block Ent brought us his first group, Boyz N D Hood, and showed his knowledge of the sound of Atlanta and the South."
The Atlanta native has worked his way up from the bottom, helping establish Jazze Pha's Sho-Nuff Records, home of Ciara, and working with Suave House, where he oversaw projects for Tela, 8Ball & MJG, and Crime Boss.
As Bad Boy South continues to nourish their alliances with Block Entertainment, the two labels are preparing a number of releases including Boyz N Da Hood, Jody Breeze and Miami's Rick Ross, among others.
The first to drop from Block Ent will be solo rapper Yung Joc, whose song "It's Goin Down," appears on virtually every southern mixtape. Joc's album, New Joc City, is expected to drop this summer.
