Guitar guru Zakk Wylde and his band Black Label Society have wrapped up work on their latest studio album and will release Shot To Hell on September 12 via Roadrunner.
The new disc is Wylde's eighth since becoming Ozzy Osbourne's lead guitarist and co-songwriter 20 years ago. A fast follow-up to 2005's Mafia, Shot To Hell was produced by Wylde and executive produced by Michael Beinhorn (Soundgarden, Red Hot Chili Peppers).
Shot To Hell's first single, "Concrete Jungle," has been serviced to rock radio stations.
Wylde recently celebrated his third straight win as Guitar Player Magazine's MVP. In their year-end readers poll, he was also named best metal guitarist and best shredder. Wylde was honoured earlier this year with Metal Hammer Magazine's 2005 "Riff Lord" Golden God Award.
In addition to releasing five previous albums and a DVD with the Black Label Society, Wylde has put out one solo disc and made one album with the short-lived Pride & Glory.
When he's not busy with Black Label or Ozzy, Wylde spends his time lending his name and music to advertisers and television shows. He recently scored endorsement deals with Gibson and Epiphone Guitars, Marshall Amps and Dunlop strings and pedals.
In attempts to conquer the small screen, Wylde's piano-based music will soon be featured in promotions for sporting events either for or on ESPN, and he has donated his voice to a namesake character in the Aqua Teen Hunger Force cartoon.
Black Label Society have been headlining the second stage on the Ozzfest tour and are planning a lengthy U.S. tour for the fall and winter. No Canadian dates have been announced.
