The List - Hip-Hop's Most Violent Music Videos

Tuesday - May 30, 2006 by Ronaldo Horacio Mexico

Onyx

In light of all the violence plaguing the hip-hop world recently - whether it be Beanie Sigel getting shot, Proof's murder or the numerous record release parties and concerts ruined by gunfire - this week's edition of The List will countdown rap music's top 5 most brutal music videos... but relax, this is just the fake stuff.

N.W.A. - "Alwayz Into Somethin'" [Watch] - I could smell Rodney King's Care Free Curl through my grandma's television screen. Catching a glimpse of this video salvaged many a stuck-to-the-plastic-seat-cover Saturday afternoon. You can't even count all of the felonies in this video. We just tried to count the violent ones. These zaggin is just pumpin shotguns like army rangers. You would think they were bear hunters. How they jackin' the Korean store on MTV? Lesson amid the madness: the FCC really didn't give a ish back then.

Jay-Z - "99 Problems" [Watch] - I was pretty mortified to watch such a violent display on "The Negro Channel" with my 10-year-old cousin. Here I am trying to teach her about the environment and endangered species and shit... and niggas is killin' a camel on "106 & Park" for no damn reason.

The Notorious B.I.G. - "Warning" [Watch] - Pay close attention to the Tony Montana shootout at the end of the video. These ain't just slugs reelin off. Biggie is really peelin dude's potatoes. Lesson amid the madness: This is what happens when you get between a man like Chris Wallace and his T-bone steak, cheese, eggs and Welch's grape.

Onyx - "Live Niguz" [Watch] - Onyx has always been synonymous with buck-ass wild. However, this video from The Show soundtrack takes its morbid turn late. After a comedic intro and rather tame performance from Ashy Larry and Moesha's boyfriend, Sticky Fingaz takes us to armed robbery at a funeral... and what looks like a 187. That's just throwed.

50 Cent - "Many Men" [Watch] - The incident that made a career... in video... before the full-length motion picture Samuel L. Jackson wiped his balls on. Money Makin' Mitch helps Cinquenta Centavo duct tape and do away with the carajitos that left him leaking on the street. He should have been thanking them for giving him something to rap about.

Honorable Mentions:

MC Ren - "Final Frontier" [Watch] - That was the first time I'D ever seen a Mac-10. How about you?

Geto Boys - "My Mind Playin' Tricks on Me" [Watch] - You should never see a midget's hands bleeding, Halloween or not.
