Updated 01:39 PDT Fri, Sep 08 2006 Damon Gough, a.k.a. Badly Drawn Boy, is back after a two year absence with a new album and tour. Born in the UK, his autobiographical new disc, is scheduled for release October 17.
The steadfastly indie Gough, whose talents recall the 70's era singer/songwriters, has also announced a handful of tour dates, beginning with a U.K. show September 8 at Nottingham's Rescue Room.
The tour crosses the Pond and lands in the States October 10 in Boston, and wraps up November 16 in San Francisco. Gough will return to the U.S. for a full tour in support of the album in 2007.
Gough said the work is a personal journey which describes growing up in Northern England during the social and historical turmoil of the ‘70s. The album was recorded with the help of Nick Franglen, one half of sampledelic dance duo Lemon Jelly.
Although the first single from the album, "Nothing's Going to Change Your Mind," won't officially be released until October 2, Gough has once again continued his tradition of releasing ultra-rare hand made single-sided vinyl singles, which are already available in select outlets.
