Greg Graffin - (Anti/Epitaph)

Cold as the Clay
Dave Jaffer

Few punk vocalists are as distinct as Greg Graffin. Matter-of-fact and almost folksy, the voice of Bad Religion has always had a decidedly un-punk timbre, and on this homage to traditional American music its unadorned and laid-bare characteristic finds, arguably, a more fitting home. Simple, and at times quite stirring (see Talk About Suffering, a duet with Jolie Holland), this is so much more than a vanity project: It's a side of a bold, reflective artist that we haven't seen before. Also showing their versatility are supporting musicians Stephen, Greg and Jason from Winnipeg's The Weakerthans.

(((My Two Cents))) - Greg Graffin Shows That He Can Toss Out A Lot Of Emotion, Maybe He's Another Billy Bragg

Greg Graffin is an amazing vocalist. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the name, he is the lead singer of the punk band Bad Religion, a punk band that is known as one of the best around. Nonetheless, Bad Religion is all about political rebellion but at the same time fast and hard music but Greg Graffin's solo career is the exact opposite. With his solo career, he creates a hommage to traditional American music and alone, with a little band and his accoustic guitar, he delivers simple yet intense music. I honestly view him as the next Billy Bragg. Honestly, the music is filled with passion and it shows that Greg Graffin has a reflective side to him and is known all about rebelling and having fun.
