Seems like old times: Klassic Kruisers, NorthStar team up for a night at the drive-in

Published Friday, September 8, 2006 2:34:01 PM Central Time

IRONWOOD -- On Aug. 30, the Klassic Kruisers Car Club brought back some nostalgia to Ironwood, and created what is hoped to be an annual event, a drive-in movie theater.

Mark Wesenberg of NorthStar Electronics donated the use of a projection television, had a custom screen made and allowed the drive-in theater to be held in his parking lot. Wesenberg also provided a unique piece of equipment, which allowed for the movie sound to be heard through the FM radios in the vehicle.

The Klassic Kruisers used their sound system to broadcast the movie over speakers mounted outside of NorthStar Electronics, since many of the classic cars in attendance only had AM radios. With both sound systems in place, all were able to enjoy the movie.

Wesenberg, along with the Klassic Kruisers, created a night filled with fun and memories for all who were there. The classic cars lined the parking lot waiting for the movie to start. A popcorn and pop concession stand was also set up. The popcorn machine, popcorn and pop were provided by club members Tom and Sharon Ravelli.

Cartoons were shown before the start of the movie, the concession stand was full and then the big event started -- the movie "Grease", starring John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John, amid honking horns and flashing headlights.
