CMW Passport
HOMETOWN Oslo, Norway WHEN Thursday, March 2, 10pm, Bovine Sex Club; Friday March 3, 1am, Drake Underground WHAT THEY DO Play thunderous and techy rock 'n' roll in the vein of At The Drive-In and The Refused, with shifting vocals that have the power to soar higher than spaceships and guitars that squeal more painfully than a hungry pig watching Deliverance. HISTORY Rumble in Rhodos initially formed as a studio project by twin brothers Thomas and David Bratlie in 2003, with the rest of the band rousted from barstools across Oslo. Their LP Own Me Like The City cleanly captures their aural attack. They seem to have less pose and political agenda than most of their agit-punk contemporaries, but that may just mean there's one member who doesn't always wear sunglasses. OF THE HUNDREDS OF BANDS PLAYING CMW, WHY SHOULD PEOPLE SEE YOU? Says vocalist Thomas: "You should come and see us because we're from Norway and we do our thing. We have good songs, we're not too cool for school and our music is unisex." NICK FLANAGAN |
