New York-based experimental rockers Animal Collective have a number of projects on the go that band member Dave Portner (aka Avey Tare) has updated followers about (using the name wheeter) via the group's Collected Animals fan forum.
First on their agenda is an Australian tour EP that they plan to distribute during their trek down under in November. The disc will feature "People," "Tikwid," an alternate version of the previously released "My Favorite Colors" and a live recording of "People." It's unclear whether or not the disc will be mass released at a later date.
Animal Collective are nearly ready to release a live boxed set via Catsup Plate Records that will likely include three LPs of material covering the time leading up to their Sung Tongs album.
As ChartAttack previously reported, the band will reissue their long out of print Hollinndagain live LP on Halloween via their own Paw Tracks label.
Band member Panda Bear (aka Noah Lennox) has finished recording nine solo songs. The tracks will be divided into three EPs, with a 12-inch titled Bros due out before the end of the year. Another EP should follow early next year. He'll also be featured on a split album with Excepter that's due out in January via Paw Tracks.
Portner has also recorded a song for a forthcoming compilation of artists who have recorded at the Rare Book Room studio in Brooklyn, New York.
Aside from their upcoming shows in Australia and New Zealand, Animal Collective will take a break from live performances in order to figure out where they want to go with their next disc.
