  • Check out the talents of R&B stars Angie Stone and Dave Hollister as well as TV star Kim Fields (Living Single) in the gospel stage play Issues: We All Got 'Em by Dallas playwright Latteras R. Whitfield, which premieres at 8 p.m. at Thalia Mara Hall, with encore performances at 3 and 8 p.m. Saturday and 4 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are available at all Jackson-area BeBop Record Shops.

  • Whether you're up for a tense thriller, adult-oriented comedy or family-friendly adventure, the new movies opening at area theaters have got you covered. Freedomland, a controversial thriller from the author of Clockers, stars Julianne Moore and Samuel L. Jackson. Date Movie, a spoof of romantic comedies from the makers of Scary Movie, stars American Pie's Alyson Hannigan. Eight Below, a PG-rated adventure set in the harsh environment of Antarctica, stars Into the Blue's Paul Walker.

  • Southern author Kaye Gibbons will appear at Lemuria Book Store at 5 p.m. to sign and read from The Life All Around Me by Ellen Foster, the long-awaited sequel to her acclaimed 1987 debut Ellen Foster, which was a 1997 Oprah's Book Club selection.

    SATURDAY

  • Mynelle Gardens on Clinton Boulevard is hosting a Wedding Extravaganza from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., where those planning to wed can meet and greet potential photographers, caterers, florists and more to hire for their pending nuptials.

  • Want to check out the posh digs the Mississippi Museum of Art will call home in 2007? Then make note to attend the museum's Art Ball at 7 p.m., which will be held at its future home, the Mississippi Arts Pavilion. The ball kicks off the museum's Art Sale and Auction, which will be held Monday through Feb. 25 and Feb. 27 to March 4. Tickets for the ball are $100 per person or $75 for persons 35 and younger.   • Kosciusko is the place to be for bluegrass fans, as the Attala Historical Society presents a Bluegrass and Bluegrass Gospel Concert at the Attala County Coliseum on Mississippi 12 at 6 p.m. Marty Raybon - formerly of Shenandoah - and his band Full Circle are the featured artists, and they'll be joined by Nash Street, The Larry Wallace Band with fiddler Jim Brock and the 2005 National Junior Fiddle Champion Ruby Jane Smith.   • The Metropolitan Chamber Orchestra will hold a free winter concert at the Belhaven College Center for the Arts at 3 p.m. The concert will feature works by Sibelius and Haydn with Ben Randman as the featured soloist.
