(Vienna, Austria) – French film star Catherine Deneuve will join Sharon Stone, Naomi Campbell and singer Anastacia in hosting a charity ball that brings funds and awareness to HIV/AIDS research worldwide next month. The Associated Press announced Deneuve will attend the 14th Annual LifeBall later this month for her first appearance. The fundraiser will raise money for LGBT and HIV/AIDS organizations nationwide that help and work with people effected by the disease.
According to reports, Deneuve will be on hand to present the "Life Ball Crystal of Hope" award to the organization Doctors Without Borders for their "SAMBA" project. The project’s efforts have focued on the early diagnosis of HIV in babies, the organizers said.
The sold out gala is known for the extravagant costumes worn by its guests. Last year, Elton John, Heidi Klum, Liza Minnelli and Donatella Versace shared hosting duties.
The event is scheduled to draw thousands of guests from around the world. Last year, the ball raised more than $1.5 million for HIV/AIDS research.
